Matt Garza Trade Rumors: Red Sox Interested, But 'Lagging' In Pursuit Of Cubs Pitcher

Stay connected for news and updates

The latest news on the SP Matt Garza trade scene suggests the Boston Red Sox may be less actively pursuing the Chicago Cubs pitcher than previously thought:

The Red Sox currently have the fifth-worst ERA in the AL (4.09 ERA) as well as a pair of starters -- SP Daisuke Matsuzaka and SP John Lackey -- on the DL, but they also have the 6th best fielding independent numbers in the league with a 4.02 FIP.

Garza currently has a 4.02 ERA and 4.16 FIP, but was one of the league's best pitchers in the 2011 MLB season.
