For the first time this season, the Chicago Cubs have won four games in a row. Chicago took the opener of a four-game series vs. the Atlanta Braves on Monday night with a 4-1 victory at Turner Field. The win moves the Cubs to 30-49 on the season, while Atlanta falls to 41-38.

Starter Jeff Samardzija was the star for Chicago, striking out 11 and surrendering only four hits and one run to improve to 6-7 on the season.

Anthony Rizzo got the scoring started with his second homer for the Cubs, a solo blast in the fourth inning. The Braves would tie the game in the sixth, but the Cubs surged ahead for good in the seventh when Luis Valbuena doubled to right with the bases loaded to score three runs.
