Alfonso Soriano Trade Rumors: Dodgers Not Interested, According To Report

Looking to improve their offense, the Los Angeles Dodgers have cast a pretty wide net, but Chicago Cubs left fielder Alfonso Soriano isn't considered an option at this point, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The Cubs are considered obvious sellers this summer, with Soriano representing one of the team's many possible trade chips.

While noting that Soriano isn't an option for L.A., Heyman does list Shane Victorino, Jimmy Rollins, Josh Willingham, Michael Cuddyer, Corey Hart and Chase Headley as possibilities. All of those guys are owed significantly less money than Soriano, though, which likely plays into L.A.'s lack of interest.

Excluding his salary for this season, Soriano is still owed $36 million through the 2014 season, making him utterly overpaid even though he's still capable of providing some nice power. In 338 plate appearances this year, the 36-year-old has hit .271/.325/.490 with 17 homers, tied for the seventh-highest figure in the National League.
