According to a report from ESPN's Buster Olney, the Boston Red Sox are trying hard to acquire RHP Ryan Dempster from the Chicago Cubs.

Dempster, who recently returned from a stint on the disabled list, has been the subject of various trade rumors for a significant part of the regular season. The veteran righty is 5-3 with a 1.86 ERA in 14 starts this season.
