The Chicago Cubs open their second half against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday afternoon.
After ending the first half with some success, the Chicago Cubs look to keep the ball rolling as they open the second half against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon. Chicago won nine of its final 13 games before the All Star break, allowing the team to climb out of the National League cellar.
The Cubs and Diamondbacks have met one previous time this season, with Arizona sweeping Chicago over three games in late June. That sweep was part of a stretch during which the Cubs posted a horrible 9-28 record, pushing the team to the bottom of the standings.
Paul Maholm gets the nod for Chicago as he looks to sustain his recent success. Over his past three appearances, including two starts, he's allowed just one run in 15.1 innings with a very solid 11-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Game date/time: Friday, July 13, 1:20 p.m. CT
Location: Wrigley Field, Chicago, Ill.
TV: CSN
