With the 101st pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, the Chicago Cubs selected RHP Ryan McNeil from Nipomo High School in California. This makes four-straight selections of right-handed pitchers for the Cubs, who said before the draft that they would prioritize pitching heading into the draft.

The North Siders selected high school outfielder Albert Almaro at No. 6, Missouri State righty Pierce Johnson at pick No. 43 and RHP Paul Blackburn at No. 56 on Monday. They started Day 2 by taking RHP Duane Underwood at No. 67.
