2012 Cubs Roster: Michael Bowden Clears Waivers, Heads To Triple-A

Relief pitcher Michael Bowden, whom the Chicago Cubs acquired via trade with the Boston Red Sox on April 21, has cleared waivers and has been sent to triple-A Iowa, according to Paul Sullivan.

Bowden had struggled in limited action with Chicago this season: he had a 7.45 ERA in 9-2/3 innings. While he struck out eight batters, he also allowed 14 hits and eight runs.

Bowden spent parts of the last four seasons in triple-A Pawtucket in the Red Sox organization; in 2011, he struck out 61 and walked 18 over 52-2/3 minor league innings.
