Cubs Vs. Red Sox Preview: Maholm Leads Cubs In Prime Time

Stay connected for news and updates

The Chicago Cubs haven't been a prime time-worthy team in 2012, but they'll be in the spotlight (at least in the baseball world) on Sunday night vs. the Boston Red Sox. The team's will fight to take the series on ESPN's Sunday night baseball, with Paul Maholm starting for the Cubs and Franklin Morales taking the hill for the Red Sox.

Maholm is 4-5 on the season with a 4.91 ERA, but is coming off a start in which he gave up only two earned runs in six innings to the Detroit Tigers while striking out seven. Maholm has also been much better at home this season than he has been on the road, posting a 3.82 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP at Wrigley and a 6.16 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP elsewhere.

Morales is getting a spot-start tonight for the Red Sox after an injury to starter Josh Beckett. Morales has 15 career starts, but hasn't started a game since 2009 with the Colorado Rockies.

Game date/time: Sunday, June 17, 7:05 p.m. CT

Location: Wrigley Field, Chicago, Ill.

TV: ESPN
