One of the root causes of the Chicago Cubs' historic losing streak has been the team's inability to close down the few leads that it has had. Carlos Marmol has been on the DL for the length of the 12 game losing streak, and though he's been wild and largely ineffective for most of this year, his absence forced the Cubs to turn to relievers at the end of the games who often weren't up to the task of holding leads or keeping games close.
Well, Marmol has rejoined the Cubs, and whether that makes any noticeable difference at least as far as the bullpen is concerned remains to be seen. It's also unclear if Marmol will step into the closer role or if those duties will fall on James Russell or Shawn Camp.
Marmol back on roster. Feels good. No move yet. Dolis perhaps?
