Kerry Wood Retirement: 'It Was Just Time'

Before hanging it up for good, Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood got the opportunity to make one last appearance on Friday. Wood relieved starter Jeff Samardzija in the eighth inning and struck out Dayan Viciedo of the White Sox before exiting to a big ovation from the Wrigley Field crowd.

After the game, he spoke to the media about his decision to retire from baseball.
