Kerry Wood Retirement: Cubs Reliever Could Make One Last Appearance Vs. White Sox, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

Friday morning reports had Kerry Wood set to announce his retirement, which remains true, but with one interesting caveat: Wood apparently still wants to make one final appearance on the mound at Wrigley Field, most likely this weekend against the Chicago White Sox.

From the Paul Sullivan and the Chicago Tribune:

A source said Wood is available to pitch today and will be in the bullpen. Whether or not manager Dale Sveum will actually use Wood in the game is unknown, but it would be a fitting way for Wood to end his career- on the mound at Wrigley Field while receiving a standing ovation.

Is this the most Cubs thing ever or what?
