Kerry Wood Will Not Be Fined For Glove, Hat Toss

Stay connected for news and updates

RP Kerry Wood will not be fined by the MLB after tossing his equipment into the crowd, according Doug Padilla of ESPN Chicago. The Chicago Cubs reliever threw his hat and glove into the stands following Tuesday night's game, when Wood allowed 2 ER and 2 BB that lead to a Cubs' loss.

Neither the league nor the team appears to be planning punishment for Wood, who responded rather defensively to reporters when asked about the incident. According to manager Dale Sveum, the action was understanding, though no preferable:

"I don’t condone it or wish it to happen all the time, but we all know in this game there is frustration that happens," Sveum said before Wednesday’s game.

The Cubs will play next on Friday night against the Milwaukee Brewers.
