The Chicago Cubs made a minor change to their pitching staff on Monday, adding the recently-acquired Michael Bowden to the 25-man roster and designating Rodrigo Lopez for assignment.

Bowden was acquired in a deal with Boston that sent Marlon Byrd to the Red Sox over the weekend; he had worked just three innings for Boston this season. He's pitched 59-1/3 innings in his major league career, with 48 strikeouts and 23 walks.

Lopez made four appearances and worked 6-1/3 innings for the Cubs this season. He struck out two, walked five and had a 5.68 ERA.
