2012 Cubs Spring Training: Starlin Castro Hit On The Wrist, But Appears To Be Okay

Stay connected for news and updates

The Cubs faithful took a collective gasp on Monday afternoon when Twitter users began reporting that 22-year-old SS Starlin Castro had been hit on the wrist during Spring Training drills by RHP Kerry Wood. Luckily for Cubs fans, the star and the face of the franchise appears to be okay.

According to Cubs manager Dale Sveum, Castro finished his drills without hardly missing a beat:

"I wasn't there to witness it, but it sounded a little more scary (than it was)... He stepped right in and did all his drills after that. It was almost like he didn't get hit."

The young Castro led the National League in hits in 2011, collecting a strong .307/.341/.432 slash with 10 homers and 22 steals. Castro will hit the field for the first time in 2012 next Sunday when the Cubs take on the Oakland Athletics.
