The Chicago Cubs have spoken with Michael Bourn's agent, according to a report.
The Chicago Cubs are interested in free agent centerfielder Michael Bourn and they have had discussions with his agent, according to Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago.
Bourn appeared in 155 games fro the Atlanta Braves last season, hitting .274 with nine home runs, 57 RBIs, 96 runs and 42 stolen bases as the leadoff hitter. Bourn's 42 stolen bases ranked fourth behind Everth Cabrera (44), Rajai Davis (46) and league-leader Mike Trout (49). Bourn has led the the league in stolen bases three times and had a career-high 61 in 2009 for the Houston Astros.
Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said the team is looking to address their outfield this off-season but would not mention Bourn specifically during a media conference call on Friday. Bourn has played eight seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves.
The Cubs lost 101 games last year, which earned them the second-worst record in baseball last season.
