The deal sends Brigham back to the Rangers after the Cubs acquired the right-handed pitcher in a trade before the July deadline for catcher Geovany Soto. Brigham didn't work out for the Cubs after he was sidelined by a strained elbow after making just two starts for Double-A Tennessee where he finished 0-2 with a 19.64 ERA for the Smokies.
Along with a future player, the Cubs acquire Loux, a 23-year old right-handed pitcher who was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the sixth overall pick in 2010 out of Texas A&M. Pitching for Double-A Frisco, TX this past season, Loux finished with a 14-1 and 3.74 ERA in his 25 starts. Those numbers were good enough to earn Loux the Double-A Texas League Pitcher of the Year honors.
