Jed Hoyer, Jason McLeod Officially Join Theo Epstein In Chicago

Per MLB policy, teams aren't allowed to make major announcements during the World Series. Wednesday was supposed to be one of those days, but it's become an off-day now that Game 6 has been postponed due to inclement weather. Taking their cue, the Chicago Cubs announced tonight that former Padres executives Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod are joining Theo Epstein in their newly fashioned front office.

Hoyer, previously San Diego's GM, and McLeod, the scouting director in San Diego, will end up taking similar roles on the North Side. The two were once key assistants to Epstein in Boston, and now they're all back together again in Chicago. According to Scott Miller of CBS Sports, the Cubs are giving up a player to be named later in exchange for acquiring their services.

Officially, Hoyer now has the title of Executive Vice President and General Manager, while McLeod is now Senior Vice President of Scouting and Player Personnel. They're regarded as two of the brightest minds in the sport these days, and you could probably argue that the Cubs have one of the most impressive front office leadership groups among any of the 30 MLB teams.
