2012 NBA Summer League: Marquis Teague Flashes Skills In Vegas, Still Must Improve

Stay connected for news and updates

Most draft prognosticators thought that the Chicago Bulls got a steal in the 2012 NBA Draft, when they drafted Marquis Teague with the 29th overall pick. Teague almost certainly would've been a lottery pick in 2013 had he stayed for another year at Kentucky, but his desire to enter the NBA as soon as possible was Chicago's gain.

That said, Teague dropped to 29 for a reason. Despite his potential, he's still an unpolished, inexperienced player with holes in game. All of that was on display in the 2012 Summer League, where SB Nation's Mike Prada saw a player who is still what he was in college.

Much like in college, [Teague] got to where he wanted to go, but struggled to finish plays, whether it was making the right pass or finishing layups.
