In the aftermath of the Miami Heat's LeBron James-powered championship, an often repeated question for television's ever-popular talking heads to debate became: "who's the best player without a title?" and/or "who's facing the most pressure to win one?"
To me, this seems easy. Creating the type of shitstorm Dwight Howard leaves in his wake every time he opens his mouth is no easy task, even for the most self-absorbed egoists. Yes, basketball is a team-sport, just like all the best ones, but at some point that dude needs to justify his own pithiness. No?
Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings has an opinion on this, too. Unprovoked, the guard tweeted this yesterday:
Who is the best player in the NBA w/ out a ring? I say Drose
— Brandon Jennings (@BRAND0NJENNINGS) July 1, 2012
It's good to see our fallen hometown hero still has the respect of the league. Between this and Rose's placement on the NBA 2K13 cover, though, sometimes it feels like we're canonizing a deceased saint.
