Chicago Bulls Rumors: Omer Asik Expected To Draw Interest From Cleveland Cavaliers

The Chicago Bulls are currently in a state of flux. The season-ending ACL injury to superstar Derrick Rose that cut short Chicago's playoff run and the city's collective will to live will also affect next season, with the start guard expected to be out until at least the All-Star break. The club doesn't have much salary cap room either after Rose's max-level extension kicks in. With several key members of the Bulls' vaunted "Bench Mob" set to become free agents, a pivotal part of the team's fabric could be ready to move on.

Perhaps the Bulls' main offseason priority is retaining backup center Omer Asik, who will become a free agent. Long-time NBA scribe Sam Amico said in a recently chat that the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to have interest.

The most money any club can give Asik in the first season of the contract is the mid-level expection, slated to be around $5 million. Cleveland or another team could back-load the deal in years three- and four- of the contract to dissuade Chicago from matching.
