Bulls Vs. Knicks: Derrick Rose Fine After Playing Heavy Minutes

The Chicago Bulls lost a heartbreaker in overtime to the New York Knicks on Sunday, but they had Derrick Rose on the court for the first time since March 12. He scored 29 points in his return from a groin injury, and after the game was over, he said he felt fine.

‘‘I felt good,’’ Rose said. ‘‘My wind was OK. It just felt good to be out there.’’

Coach Tom Thibodeau said he had trainer Fred Tedeschi check to see how Rose was feeling throughout the game.

‘‘It was about what we expected,’’ Thibodeau said of Rose’s performance. ‘‘Some good, some bad. Handling the ball was a problem.’’

Bulls Vs. Knicks Final Score: Chicago Loses 100-99 In Overtime

The Chicago Bulls lost 100-99 in overtime to the New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon after Derrick Rose missed a layup at the buzzer that would've given Chicago the victory. Rose also had a chance to win the game for the Bulls at the end of regulation, but the Knicks stopped that attempt as well.

This was truly a lost game by Chicago, as it seemed like the Bulls had the advantage down the stretch twice before giving up miraculous shots to New York's Carmelo Anthony. After a three-point play and a monster three-point shot helped to push the game to overtime, Anthony followed up with a layup and the game-winning three-pointer in the final minute of OT.

Overall, between the missed free throws in the fourth quarter, Rose's pair of missed game-winners and Carmelo's stunning shots, it's a tad hard to believe that the Bulls lost this game. After coming back from 21 points down in the first half, Chicago has everything going its way until the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Anthony put up huge numbers for New York, finishing the game with 43 points on 16-of-31 shooting and seven rebounds. Rose put up 29 points while leading Chicago's impressive comeback but he was just 8-of-26 from the field and he turned the ball over eight times.

Bulls Vs. Knicks Score Update: Overtime Is Next After Chicago Blows Late Lead

The Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks are going to overtime after regulation ended in a 91-91 tie on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls were losing by double-digits in the first half but came back to take a 91-81 lead with just a few minutes remaining in the game.

Chicago fell apart at that point, though, failing to muster anything on offense to expand the lead. The biggest issue came at the free throw line, though, where both Luol Deng and Derrick Rose missed two shots apiece to extend a three-point lead. On the next play, Carmelo Anthony hit a game-tying shot from ridiculously long distance.

The Bulls had a chance to put the game away in the final seconds, but Rose wasn't able to knock down a buzzer-beater.

Bulls Vs. Knicks Score Update: Chicago Comes Back To Take 75-72 Lead

After trailing by double-digits for most of the first half, the Chicago Bulls have come back to take a 75-72 lead over the New York Knicks going into the final quarter on Sunday. While it seemed like a blowout might be coming when the Knicks took a 24-6 lead, the Bulls have battled their way back into the game with strong defense.

The Knicks have scored just 41 points in the past two quarters after scoring 31 in the first period. That greatly improved defense has coincided with the Bulls getting back into the flow on offense, leading to the impressive comeback that's occurred in Madison Square Garden.

Derrick Rose struggled badly in the first half but he finally came to life in the third quarter, scoring 15 of his 21 points to bring the Bulls back into the lead. Luol Deng is the only other Bull that's scored in double-digits as he's put up 13 points so far.

Carmelo Anthony leads the Knicks with 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Iman Shumpert has added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists for New York.

Bulls Vs. Knicks Score Update: Chicago Trails 53-45 At Halftime

The Chicago Bulls stopped the bleeding but they still trail 53-45 at halftime against the New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls trailed 24-6 with just a few minutes left in the first quarter, but they've worked to prevent things from getting any worse.

Unfortunately, the Bulls haven't exactly made great progress in their comeback. Shooting has continued to be an issue, with Chicago making just 37 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, including 1-of-8 shooting from three-point range. The ten turnovers really haven't helped, either, with Derrick Rose being especially wild.

Rose's return was supposed to ignite the Bulls, but the reigning MVP has looked like a shell of himself. Rose has made just one of his six shots thus far, scoring most of his points on free throws, and he's already turned the ball over five times while recording just one assist.

Luol Deng leads the Bulls with 11 points, but he's just 3-of-10 from the field so far. Taj Gibson and Carlos Boozer have added seven points apiece. Carmelo Anthony leads the Knicks with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting and Landry Fields has added 10 points.

Bulls Vs. Knicks Score Update: Chicago Trails 31-19 After One Quarter

With Derrick Rose returning to the lineup, the Chicago Bulls were supposed to get things back on track on Sunday. Instead, things looked worse than they have a while as Chicago trails 31-19 against the New York Knicks after one quarter at the Madison Square Garden.

Chicago has struggled lately on offense, but Rose's return was supposed to fix what ailed the Bulls' attack. Instead, Chicago looked utterly overwhelmed by New York's defense in the first quarter, shooting a startling 6-of-20 from the field after finishing the quarter strong.

Rose hasn't even played well, having more turnovers (three) than points (two) in the first quarter. Meanwhile, the Knicks have had little trouble scoring against the Bulls, who simply don't look like themselves on either side of the court today. The Knicks are shooting 13-of-22 from the field so far with assists on 11 of those baskets.

Luol Deng leads the Bulls with six points, but he's just 2-of-8 from the field. Carmelo Anthony leads the Knicks with 12 points on 5-of-5 shooting and Landry Fields has eight points on 4-of-5 shooting.

Derrick Rose Injury: Star Point Guard To Play Against New York Knicks

It's Easter Sunday, so it's only fitting that, after sitting 12 straight games with a strained groin, star point guard Derrick Rose will return to the Chicago Bulls when the team plays the New York Knicks in a Sunday matinee at Madison Square Garden. Word just came down from the beat reporters that Rose will go, ending a week's worth of speculation on when the reigning MVP would return.

Rose's return is certainly a welcome sight for Chicago, but only if he's truly healthy. Since suffering the injury against these same Knicks on March 12, reports on Rose's prognosis have been mixed. Assuming Rose is pain-free and ready to go for coach Tom Thibodeau's team, it's a huge boost to get back on the floor with the postseason quickly approaching.

Bulls Vs. Knicks Preview: PG Derrick Rose Expected Back Against New York

The Chicago Bulls (43-13) travel to Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon to face F Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks (28-27). The team is without two of their main contributors, PG Jeremy Lin and F-C Amare Stoudemire, but have played exceptionally through the last month, going 10-3 since March 12.

The Bulls, meanwhile, anticipate the return of reigning MVP PG Derrick Rose. The 23-year-old Rose as only played 34 games with the Bulls, but has a career high 8.1 assists and an impressive 23.1 points per 36 minutes.

Tom Thibodeau Named Coach Of The Month For March

The Chicago Bulls (42-12) sport the NBA's best record despite playing much of the 2011-12 NBA Season with a multitude of injuries. PG Derrick Rose, C Joakim Noah, SF Luol Deng and SG Richard Hamilton have all missed time during the season, but the Bulls -- who have not yet lost back-to-back games this season -- have already clinched a playoff birth.

The NBA, in response, has rewarded the team's head coach, Tom Thibodeau, with an Eastern Conference Coach of the Month award for the month of March. The Bulls went 13-3 in March, averaging 97.0 points per game while allowing only 89.6.

On March 19th, the Bulls beat the Orlando Magic 85-59, making Thibodeau -- only in his second year -- the fastest coach in NBA history to reach 100 wins.
