Ricky Rubio wishes Derrick Rose a healthy recovery

Derrick Rose isn't the only star point guard rehabbing from a torn ACL. On Friday, Ricky Rubio spoke about his own recovery from the injury.

Both Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose and his Minnesota Timberwolves counterpart, Ricky Rubio, are currently rehabbing from ACL injuries On Friday, Rubio spoke about what exactly Rose is going through.

"In the beginning it was physical because you're in so much pain that you have to fight every day and you have to bend the knee," Rubio said. "And every day was painful and then when that pain goes away and you just have to work out and see your teammates or all your friends playing, not just (NBA) basketball games, like basketball in the street. Basketball this summer I was sitting on the side, it was too hard mentally. It's hard because you want to play. I've been playing for all my life and I've never been out for that long, so it's just hard to see all those players and you can't do whatever you want to do playing basketball so it's just hard mentally."

Rubio also wished a healthy recovery to Rose, who is not expected back to the Bulls until late in the season. Rubio, who suffered his injury in March, will likely be back with the Timberwolves early in 2013. Like Rubio, Rose has also told the media that he was troubled by the mental aspects of his injury.

In 41 games last season, Rubio averaged 10.6 points, 8.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. He was also one of the top defending point guards in the NBA. In Rose's rookie season, he averaged 16.8 points, 6.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds a game.

Both the Bulls and Wolves are dealing with injury trouble to start the season -- Minnesota recently announced that it will be without All-Star Kevin Love for six to eight weeks.
