Bulls Vs. Warriors Quotes: Derrick Rose And Bulls Focused On Defensive Improvement

The Chicago Bulls got down early on the road against the Golden State Warriors, never quite recovered and eventually lost 99-91 on Monday night. Derrick Rose had a particularly difficult night, finishing with 13 points on 4-17 shooting, while Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis had great nights, finishing with 21 and 26 points, respectively. After the game, Sam Smith of Bulls.com spoke with the team about what went wrong. The team remained focused on improving the defense rather than dwelling on the offensive problems:

Joakim Noah - We're not going to get to where we want to get to playing defense like that. We have to improve. It's frustrating. Our defense was just bad.

Derrick Rose - Defense, defense, defense. We always say we can live with missed shots. Of course, I missed a lot of bunnies tonight. Open shots I normally hit along with other people on the team. But we can always fix it. We know that without us playing defense, it was going to be a hard game, especially with the scorers they have on their team.

Tom Thibodeau - They're hard to guard normally. You put them into the open floor and they're coming at you with a live ball. And then we're not protecting the basket. You give a team like that easy baskets their confidence goes way up and they are not easy to stop after that. We can't play like that. We have to play defense, rebound and we‘ve got to take care of the ball. They're jumping out on pick and rolls and we're not protecting the ball and that's what happens.

It's early in the season, but the team is staying on point with the defensive message in response to their first bit of adversity in 2011-12. With the compressed schedule it will be interesting to see if the team can keep up their signature defensive intensity every night.

Bulls Vs. Warriors Final Score: Bulls Fall to 1-1 In Oakland

The Chicago Bulls came out flat against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland on Monday, and they were unable to find their energy the entire night. The end result was a 99-91 win for the Warriors in a game that likely wasn't as close as the final score. The Bulls were out-scored in every quarter but the fourth -- when the game was barely in jeopardy. Chicago drops to 1-1 with the loss.

Chicago's stellar defense had no answer for the Warriors' Big Three: Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry, and David Lee each went off. Ellis led the way with 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting and also added seven assists. Lee had 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting, while Curry scored 21 on 7-of-12 shooting.

The Bulls were led by Luol Deng, who finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds on 10-of-15 shooting. Carlos Boozer was atrocious, finishing with just six points and getting bullied throughout by Lee. Derrick Rose wasn't much better: just 13 points and eight assists on 4-of-17 shooting.

Bulls Vs. Warriors Score Update: Golden State Leads 78-61 After Three Quarters

The Chicago Bulls looked a step slow during the first half of their Monday night matchup against the Golden State Warriors, and not much changed in the third quarter. The Bulls trail the Warriors 78-61 after three quarters in Oakland. Chicago is getting dominated statistically across the board.

Warriors foward David Lee picked apart the Bulls' Carlos Boozer in the third quarter, and now has 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. Golden State's backcourt of Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis continue to pick apart Chicago. After combining for just 8-of-31 from the field last night against the Clippers, the pair already has 40 combined points on 14-of-23 shooting through three quarter tonight.

Luol Deng was the Bulls' lone offensive threat in the third. Deng now has 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go with four rebounds. Derrick Rose is not playing well. The Bulls' star guard has 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

Bulls Vs. Warriors Score Update: Warriors Dominate First Half, Lead 57-41

No excuses for the Chicago Bulls tonight: yeah, they're playing the second half of a back-to-back, but so are the Golden State Warriors. Through the first half, the Warriors look like the fresher, more energetic team. Golden State dominated the Bulls in the first two quarters, and head into halftime boasting a 57-41 lead.

Chicago's offense has been plagued by turnovers. The Bulls have 14 giveaways compared to just six for the Warriors.

Chicago will also have to find a way to slow down Golden State's dynamic backcourt of Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis. Ellis has 17 points off 6-of-10 shooting, while Curry has 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting that included 6-of-7 makes from the free throw line.

Richard Hamilton is the lone Bull in double-figures with 10 points. Derrick Rose has seven points. Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer each have six.

Bulls Vs. Warriors Score Update: Chicago Trails 30-22 After One Quarter

The Chicago Bulls continue their four-game West Coast road trip tonight in Oakland, where they trail the Golden State Warriors 30-22 after one quarter. Each team is playing on the second end of a back-to-back. Chicago is 1-0 after a Christmas day win over the Los Angeles Lakers, while the Warriors are 0-1 following a loss to the Clippers.

Rip Hamilton scored only six points in his Chicago debut against the Lakers, but started strong in game two. Hamilton scored six in the first quarter on 3-4 shooting and added an assist. It was a slow start for Bulls star Derrick Rose. Rose finished with two points on 1-of-3 shooting.

Star Warriors guard Monte Ellis already has 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Golden State forward David Lee has eight points on 4-for-5 shooting.

Chicago finished with nine turnovers in the first quarter, compared to just one for Golden State.
