Keith Bogans Released: Chicago Bulls Part Ways With 8-Year Guard

The Chicago Bulls have released G Keith Bogans according to Steve Aschburner of NBA.com.

With the recent signing of G Richard Hamilton, the Bulls' need for Bogans had largely diminished. Bogans, signed as a free agent in August of 2010, played in one season with the Bulls, tallying 4.4 points per game and just 1.8 rebounds per game.

On Wednesday, the Bulls signed Richard "Rip" Hamilton to a 2-year, $10 million contract, effectively reducing Bogans's role to marginal at best. The eight-year veteran, who was already a bench player, averaged 17.8 minutes played per game.

The Bulls will be in action tonight, kicking off the 2011 NBA Preseason against the Indiana Pacers on WGN.
