St. Pierre is not a stranger to the Blackhawks -- he played in 21 games for the team between 2005 and 2008 -- but he has spent the bulk of his career in the minor leagues and has not appeared in an NHL game since the 2009-10 season, when he was with the Ottawa Senators.

During the 2011-12 season, St. Pierre logged 73 games with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL, scoring 11 goals to go with 53 assists.
