With the Chicago Blackhawks trailing the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 heading into the third period, the second game of the Chicago-Phoenix playoff series has taken a physical turn.
Midway through the second period, G Mike Smith found himself behind the net, trying dish the puck out, but C Andrew Shaw came speeding around the back and collided with Smith. The collision drew a misconduct penalty has was ejected for the hit:
The hard hits continued as Niklas Hjalmarsson took a harsh blow later in the period:
The Blackhawks fell behind 3-2 after the Shaw penalty led to a power play goal. Chicago enters the final period trailing 3 goals to 2 and 1 game to 0.
