The Chicago Blackhawks lost 3-2 in overtime to the Phoenix Coyotes after a stunning last-second goal in the third period got them there in the first place. The loss drops Chicago behind Phoenix by a game in the seven-game first round series between the two teams.
After Brent Seabrook's goal with 15 seconds remaining in regulation tied up the game, it seemed like the Blackhawks had a chance to pull off one of the craziest upsets in recent memory. But then, roughly midway through the first OT period, Phoenix's Martin Hanzal scored the game-winning goal:
Hanzal was able to handle the puck down near the goal, and Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford didn't appear to locate it in time. As quickly as these things usually happen, Hanzal smacked the puck into the back of the net, giving Phoenix the victory and elating the home crowd.
