The Chicago Blackhawks out-shot the New Jersey Devils 13-11 in the first period on Tuesday night, but they trail on the scoreboard 1-0. Petr Sykora got New Jersey on the board with a power play goal at the 15:42-mark of the period; it was his 18th goal of the season. Adam Henrique and Mark Fayne were credited with assists.

Chicago had a power play opportunity of its own but could not convert. New Jersey won 12 of 20 faceoffs in the first and the hits were even at three apiece.
The Blackhawks are trying to bounce back from a 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Nashville Predators on Sunday night.
