Wins over the rival Vancouver Canucks are always extra satisfying for the Chicago Blackhawks, and that won't change tonight as the 'Hawks defeated the Canucks 2-1 in overtime at the United Center. The victory gives Chicago 92 points, and improves the team to 42-25-8 overall. Vancouver falls to 43-21-9 (95 points).
After skating to a scoreless third period, the teams headed to overtime tied 1-1. Chicago's Johnny Oduya scored the game-winner when he lit the lamp to beat Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo. The assist on Oduya's fourth goal of the season went to Dave Bolland.
The game got chippy in the second period when 12 total penalties were handed out, including three 10 minute misconducts. Alex Burrows and Zack Kassian of the Canucks and Duncan Keith of Chicago were charged with the misconducts.
