Jonathan Toews Injury: Blackhawks Captain Out Against Toronto

Stay connected for news and updates

For the fifth consecutive game, the Chicago Blackhawks won't have captain Jonathan Toews leading them on the ice when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, as Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago reports. Toews has missed the team's past four games with what's been officially described as an upper body injury.

Speaking with reporters, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said that there isn't a timetable currently set for Toews' return.

Toews is the same. He didn't skate today, about the same he's been the last few days. No progress. Still day to day. We'd like to see him on the ice, then you get a pretty good idea when he's going to be back. He enhances our team in all areas.

Toews, 23, is considered to be one of the NHL's top young stars. This season, he's had 29 goals and 28 assists in 59 games with Chicago.
