Blackhawks Vs. Red Wings Final Score: Chicago Earns 2-1 Victory Over Detroit

Don't look now, but the Chicago Blackhawks are surging. Just days ago, these same 'Hawks were on a nine-game losing streak, but Chicago has since reeled off four straight victories, the latest being a 2-1 win at the United Center over the rival Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. Chicago's win ends Detroit six-game winning streak and pushes the 'Hawks to 33-21-7 with 73 points. Detroit falls to 41-18-2 with 84 points.

The second period started 1-1, but Marcus Kruger beat Detroit's Jimmy Howard just two minutes into the third to give Chicago the lead. Kruger's seventh goal of the year was set-up by teammates Andrew Brunette and Jimmy Hayes. Hayes would end as the No. 1 star of the game at the United Center after the rookie scored his fifth goal of the year to tie the game at one in the second.

Detroit out-shot Chicago 32-29.

Blackhawks Vs. Red Wings Score Update: 'Hawks And Wings Tied 1-1 After Two

The Chicago Blackhawks are looking for their fourth straight win tonight against the Detroit Red Wings, and they took a big step towards getting it in the second period. Chicago trailed 1-0 after the first period, but quickly tied things up in the second when rookie Jimmy Hayes beat the otherwise stellar Jimmy Howard. Hayes' fifth goal of the season was set up by teammates Bryan Bickell and Duncan Keith.

The fact that the score is only 1-1 is testament to Howard and 'Hawks goalie Corey Crawford. Each faced a cascade of shots in the first two periods, and each made some fantastic saves. Detroit outshot Chicago 25-22, while the Blackhawks hold an advantage in hits (14-10) and faceoff wins (22-18).

Toews leads the team with 29 goals and is second with 57 points. The 23-year-old caption has played in 59 of of the Blackhawks' 60 games so far in the 2011-12 NHL season and has been a major component in Chicago's last three wins, scoring 2 goals and racking up 3 assists.
