The Chicago Blackhawks pulled off a 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night to end a four-game losing streak and get the team back on track. A game against the struggling Blue Jackets came at a good time, as there's nothing like a home game against one of the worst teams in the league to find your mojo. Columbus has now won twice in its past 12 games and no team in the NHL has a worse record.
After taking a 2-1 lead into the final period, Chicago finally managed to pull away. A few minutes into the period, Viktor Stalberg scored his second goal of the game to extend the lead to 3-1. Ben Smith would also get on the board for Chicago before Columbus responded with a goal from Antione Vermette to cut the lead to 4-2. Stalberg would ultimately complete the hat trick by scoring an empty net goal in the final minutes to put things away.

The Chicago Blackhawks are leading 2-1 over the Columbus Blue Jackets after two periods on Tuesday night following an eventful period. The game was scoreless after one period, but both sides came to life offensively in the second period at the United Center.
The first goal of the game was scored by Chicago, as center Dave Bolland scored his tenth goal of the season to put the Blackhawks ahead. Columbus responded just a couple of minutes later with a goal of its own to tie things up at one, as R.J. Umberger put up his seventh goal of the season. That tie only lasted a few minutes, though, as Viktor Stalberg put Chicago back in front with a goal. It was his tenth goal of the season.
After Columbus had a clear shot advantage in the first period, things were much more even in the second. Neither club has been able to take advantage of a power play thus far; Chicago has had two of them, while Columbus has had four.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets are knotted up in a scoreless tie after one period at the United Center on Tuesday night. The Blackhawks are hoping to right the ship against a struggling Blue Jackets club, but they're without star forward Patrick Sharp and another key player in Jonathan Toews has had his bell rung so far.
Corey Crawford is in goal for Chicago tonight instead of back-up Ray Emery, and he's been a perfect 13-for-13 on saves thus far. The Blue Jackets have the shot advantage against the Blackhawks, as Columbus goalie Curtis Sanford is a perfect 8-for-8 on saves.
Columbus has had three different power play opportunities so far, but they haven't been able to capitalize on any of them. Chicago has had five penalties called so far on Tuesday, and four of them have been on Steve Montador.

Bad news is starting to pile up for the Blackhawks, who recently lost Patrick Sharp for up to a month. In the first period of Tuesday night's game against last place Columbus, a Duncan Keith shot was deflected and hit Jonathan Toews in the head. Toews had to leave the ice and go to the locker room at that point.
The trainer who accompanied Toews into the locker room returned to the bench to discuss the situation with Joel Quenneville, though Toews was no where to be seen. Fortunately, Toews did eventually return to the bench after that point and got back on the ice for the Blackhawks. The shot appeared to catch him in the helmet, which no doubt helped prevent a more serious injury.
