Toronto, ON (Sports Network) – Marian Hossa notched a goal and an assist as the streaking Chicago Blackhawks defeated Original Six rival Toronto, 5-3, at Air Canada Centre.

Jonathan Toews, Viktor Stalberg, Michael Frolik and Bryan Bickell all scored for the defending Stanley Cup champions, who ripped off their eighth straight win — the first time it’s happened since November 9-25, 2009.

Corey Crawford made 30 saves to start Chicago’s four-game road trip with a win.

Luke Schenn, Joffrey Lupul and Joey Crabb all lit the lamp for the Maple Leafs who had a two-game win streak halted.

James Reimer surrendered five goals on just 19 shots in the first two periods before getting pulled. Jean-Sebastien Giguere came in to make six saves in the final 20 minutes.
