Blackhawks Vs. Blue Jackets Final Score: 'Hawks Cruise To 4-1 Home Win

It may not have been as one-sided as the final score would indicate, but the Chicago Blackhawks took care of business on Monday at the United Center by defeating the division rival Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1. Columbus out-shot the Blackhawks 38-22 in the game, but Chicago goalie Corey Crawford played spectacularly to keep the Blue Jackets' attack at bay.

Each team scored once in the third period. The Blue Jackets cut Chicago's lead to 3-1 early in the third when former 'Hawk James Wisniewski beat Crawford for his second goal of the season off assists from Derek MacKenzie and Mark Letestu. Chicago would reach the final 4-1 score when Marian Hossa put in his 16th goal of the season past Blue Jackets' goalie Steve Mason on a power play with four minutes remaining.

Blackhawks Vs. Blue Jackets Score Update: Viktor Stalberg Scores Twice, 'Hawks Lead 3-0

The Chicago Blackhawks were expected to roll through the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday at the United Center, and expectations came to fruition in the second period. After battling to a scoreless first period with Columbus, Chicago scored three times to take a commanding 3-0 lead after two periods.

Patrick Sharp got the scoring started for the 'Hawks with his 19th goal of the season five minutes into the period. The shot to beat Blue Jackets' goalie Steve Mason was assisted by Marian Hossa and veteran defenseman Sean O'Donnell.

Viktor Stalberg made it 2-0 'Hawks four minutes later. Stalberg's eighth goal of the season was assisted by Brent Seabrook. Stalberg would strike again to make it 3-0 before the final buzzer rang. Stalberg's ninth score of the season was set up by Duncan Keith and Dave Bolland.

Blackhawks Vs. Blue Jackets Score Update: Chicago And Columbus Are Scoreless After One

The Chicago Blackhawks have won six of their last seven games; the Columbus Blue Jackets have dropped four straight. But even with every indicator pointing towards the red-hot 'Hawks, the Blue Jackets were hardly going to roll over at the United Center on Monday. The first period ends with 'Hawks fortunate to be clinging to a scoreless tie. Columbus dominated the action most of the way through, but Chicago goalie Corey Crawford was up for the task.

Columbus out-shot the Hawks 13-5 in the first period. The Blue Jackets also finished with more hits (14-7) and faceoff wins (8-6). Chicago had six giveaways to zero for Columbus. Without the stellar play of Crawford, the 'Hawks very easily could have found themselves in an early deficit.

The Blackhawks are 0-2 on the power play, while the Blue Jackets are 0-1. Columbus scored power play goals in their last three games before Christmas.
