Bet you didn't know about this arcane NHL/Stanley Cup rule:↵↵
NHL rules state that a player has to play half the season -- 41 games -- or at least one game in the Stanley Cup Finals, for his name to go on the Cup.
That left forward Bryan Bickell, who played in only 16 regular season games and four playoff games -- none in the Finals -- off the engraving that came back this week. He took it pretty well, though:↵↵
"If it was on there, it would kind of be like a freebie," Bickell said. "To be here during the playoffs, I sure feel like I was part of the team and to play a couple of games … but hopefully we can bring it back again."↵↵
That, and the $30,000 Stanley Cup ring Bickell got.
