Jay Cutler Says He Shouldn't Have Bumped J'Marcus Webb

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler said he shouldn't have bumped offensive lineman J'Marcus Webb on the sidelines during Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Cutler was seen yelling at his linemen and bumping Webb on Thursday and has since come under fire from the media and some of his teammates. Cutler finally addressed the issue himself on Tuesday on his WMVP-AM 1000 radio show. Cutler said he shouldn't have bumped Webb, but refused to go any further in issuing any sort of apology.

I probably shouldn’t have bumped him. You know, I’ll go with that. As far as me yelling at him and trying to get him going in the game, I don’t regret that. Shouldn’t have bumped him. I’ll stick to that.

Cutler also said the incident has been put behind them.

It’s just one of the things that happened during a game and since then we’ve talked about it and it’s really behind us.

The Bears host the St. Louis Rams at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Bears Coach Lovie Smith Isn't Upset At D.J. Moore's Criticism Of Jay Cutler

The internal criticism of Jay Cutler following last week's loss has continued to go around, with D.J. Moore being the latest to sound off.

Does head coach Lovie Smith want to put a lid on things? Not exactly.

Asked by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune if Moore was out of line criticizing Cutler, Smith didn't seem to mind.
"D.J. Moore said that?" Smith said when informed Moore said Cutler was wrong in his actions Thursday night at Green Bay. "I have no problem with any of our guys ... I have a problem with a ‘teammate said or ‘source said.' But if you put your name behind something and you want to voice your opinion, you can voice it. But again for us, it was business as usual today. We're getting our football team better."

Jay Cutler's Latest Critic Is Bill Cowher

Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher is the latest to lob criticism at Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler for his sideline antics during Thursday night's 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Cutler yelled at his teammates and bumped offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb, prompting criticism of the hotheaded QB from several sources, including his own teammates.

Cowher's criticism of Cutler on the CBS pregame show may have been the most severe yet, suggesting that the Bears may be forced to consider getting rid of Cutler if the Bears struggle or he doesn't show more responsibility.

"He’s had some protection issues. I know there’s been some questionable [play] calling. But they brought players in to help this guy win a championship, and he’s going to [have to] prove to be more accountable — not sensationalize every little mistake with his antics and body language.

"He’s a good quarterback. But if he does not change his ways and this team does not go to the playoffs, they have to consider changing. He has to change."

D.J. Moore On Jay Cutler: 'He's Always Been That Way So I Wouldn't Expect Him To Change'

During the Chicago Bears' 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, quarterback Jay Cutler bumped offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb on the sideline. Cutler's actions have already been criticized as unfair by cornerback D.J. Moore in the Chicago Tribune on Monday. Moore followed up in a Q&A later in the day Monday, in which he did not reverse his position on Cutler or paint the quarterback in a good light.

But I mean, just, you know, he is what he is. He's always been that way so I wouldn't expect him to change.

Moore also doesn't expect for Cutler to apologize to the team for his actions:

I think it's just him. That's the type of guy he is. He's not going to hold anything back. So I mean, if he was to talk to the team I guess you would kind of feel weird about it because it's really not just his thing.

Chicago Bears' Young Pass Rushers Off To Hot Start

The Chicago Bears had at least one positive sign in their 23-10 loss the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, and that came in the performance of the young players in the front seven. Rookie linebacker Shea McClellin and third-year defensive end Corey Wootton have both been putting pressure on quarterbacks in the first two weeks.

McClellin finished with four tackles and 1.5 sacks against the Packers, while Wooten posted a 0.5 sack. Wootton also started the season with a sack of Colts quarterback Andrew Luck in the Bears' Week 1 victory over Indianapolis.

The play of McClellin and Wootton is drawing notice from their teammates. Defensive tackle Henry Melton spoke with reporters about the two young pass rushers, according to the Chicago Tribune:

"They are effort players who are relentless," tackle Henry Melton said of McClellin and Wootton. "Their motors are always going. It's good to see Corey healthy. And Shea is just a young guy who never gets tired."

The Bears hope McCellin and Wootton can continue their solid play as they host the St. Louis Rams at Noon CT on Sunday at Soldier Field.

Chicago Bears Bring Back RB Kahlil Bell

Needing depth at running back with starter Matt Forte injured, the Chicago Bears have reportedly re-signed running back Khalil Bell, according to Bell's Twitter account.

Bell was cut by the Bears in the preseason. He's played in 20 games for the team since 2009, rushing for 557 yards on 119 carries in his career.

The Bears will reportedly be without Forte, who sprained his ankle in the third quarter of Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, for up to six weeks. Backup Michael Bush will get the bulk of the carries and he'll be backed up by Armando Allen. Bell will be the third-string running back.

Matt Forte Injury: Bears RB Could Be Out Up To 6 Weeks, According To Report

Matt Forte sprained his ankle in the third quarter of the Chicago Bears' loss to the Green Bay Packers Thursday, and Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times reports he could miss up to six weeks:

The running game was the best thing the Bears had going for them against the Green Bay Packers in their 23-10 loss on Thursday night. But even that facet to their offense is in flux after running back Matt Forte suffered a sprained ankle that could keep him out for 2-6 weeks.

Forte suffered the injury, which ESPN's Adam Schefter reported as the more-debilitating high sprain, when he was tackled by Packers safety Charles Woodson near the Packers' sideline after a 15-yard reception early in the third quarter.

Forte had 31 yards rushing and 49 yards receiving at the time of his injury. Backup Michael Bush is expected to see a significant increase in his workload with Forte out and third stringer Armando Allen could also get an opportunity to contribute.

J'Marcus Webb Responds To Poor Play With Positive Facebook Status

The Packers defense had plenty of success against Jay Cutler and the Bears offense, but perhaps the single player that they took advantage of most was offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb. The starting left tackle for the Bears was utterly out-matched when he lined up against Clay Matthews, allowing 3.5 sacks to the three-time Pro Bowler.

The performance led to a confrontation from Cutler who was seen by cameras yelling at Webb, eventually bumping into the offensive lineman intentionally. Webb updated his Facebook status on Friday, reflecting on the loss in a positive way:

"There Is Nothing Like Having A Bad Game, But When You Have It, You Have To Deal With It Correctly. It's Not How One Deals With A Win. How Does One Deal With A Loss Or Bad Game? I'm No Different Than You. Time To Prepare. Go Bears!"

While an ESPN analyst on Around the Horn called the status update "cryptic" and intimated that it could be referring to Cutler's inability to deal with the situation correctly, the final 10 words seem to negate that possibility.

Former Chicago Bears DE Calls Out Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler struggled on Thursday night, but he has been drawing more criticism for his actions and attitude rather than his poor play. Joining those with criticism for Cutler on Friday was former Bears defensive end Adewale Ogunleye.

"If you are not doing your job, yeah, someone should be allowed to get in your face," Ogunleye, a former team captain, said during an interview on the Mully & Hanley Show Friday morning on WSCR-AM 670. "But if you live in a glass house, you can't throw any stones." (via Chicago Tribune)

"So the way I am looking at the game, no one is yelling at Jay when he is throwing the ball three (four) times to their defenders. And you've got to have some sense of accountability. At the end of the day, you start losing the respect of your teammates, you start losing the respect of that offensive line when publicly you're bumping people and yelling at them in their face. I don't think it is the right thing to do."

Cutler has drawn the most criticism for intentionally bumping into offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb while yelling at the lineman after he gave up one of his 3.5 sacks allowed on the night.

Bears Vs. Packers: Clay Matthews, Tramon Williams Were Green Bay's MVPs On Thursday

The Green Bay Packers dominated their division rival Chicago Bears, 23-10, on Thursday night behind a swarming defensive effort that forced sacks and turnovers all night.

SB Nation's Packers blog, Acme Packing Company, listed two key players as game MVPs. Linebacker Clay Matthews accounted for 3.5 of the Packers' seven total sacks of Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, while cornerback Tramon Williams kept new Bears' addition Brandon Marshall virtually silent throughout the game and intercepted Cutler twice.

Green Bay continually frustrated the Chicago offense through four quarters, with Charles Woodson and rookie safety Jerron McMillian also picking off Cutler once apiece.

Cutler finished the night with four interceptions, completing only 11-of-27 passes for 126 yards and a late touchdown. He finished with a quarterback rating of 28.2, and the Chicago offense could only muster 168 total yards against a Green Bay team in dire need of a bounce-back victory following their Week 1 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Jay Cutler Draws Criticism With Post-Game Comments After Loss To Packers

In a 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler had a bad night and didn't exactly hide his frustration of the field. Sacked seven times on the night and consistently under pressure, Cutler was seen yelling at and intentionally bumping into J'Marcus Webb, the starting left tackle for the Bears.

It was a sequence of events that did not impress Hall of Fame quarterback and co-host of FOX NFL Sunday, Terry Bradshaw. "I like him, I think he's a great talent," Bradshaw said on WSCR-AM 670's "McNeil and Spiegel Show." "I do not like -- I'm telling you I'll go right on the record -- I do not like calling out my linemen and bumping them and screaming and hollering because you've got all these cameras watching." (via the Chicago Tribune)

"This is a guy I've never met and I've heard so many things negatively about Jay," Bradshaw said. "His body language for a person that's never met him suggests he's not a person I really want to meet, but that's kind of a silly thing. I'd really like to sit down with him and I'd have a better understanding of what makes him tick. I think just by talking to him but ... I just sometimes, I don't understand."

Packers CB Tramon Williams Didn't Forget Jay Cutler's 'Good Luck' Wish

In a press conference earlier in the week, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, brimming with confidence after a 41-21 win over the Indianapolis Colts, wished the Packers secondary luck in trying to defend the new Bears receivers. It was a comment that Tramon Williams and Green Bay remembered during the Packers' 23-10 win on Thursday night.

"I don't think we were doing anything to him," Williams said to reporters after the game. "We were just having 'good luck' out there." (via CSN Chicago)

Cutler threw four interceptions during the game, two to Williams, as he was consistently harassed, hit and sacked by the Packers' pass rushers throughout the game. "They told us to have good luck and we had good luck out there," Williams said.

Cutler finished the game 11-for-27 passing with 126 yards, one touchdown and the four picks. Receiver Brandon Marshall recorded just two receptions for 24 yards and Alshon Jeffrey hauled in just one pass for seven yards.

Chicago Bears Pursuing RB Steve Slaton After Matt Forte's Ankle Injury

The Chicago Bears have scheduled a Saturday workout for former Houston Texans running Steve Slaton in the wake of news that Matt Forte suffered a high ankle sprain during the team's 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. The report of Slaton's scheduled workout comes via Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune. The Bears will use Michael Bush as the primary running back during any games where Forte is unable play, but the lack of depth behind Bush is worrisome. Unproven RB Lorenzo Booker beat out Armando Allen during the preseason in the competition for the No. 3 RB on the roster, but Booker was later placed on injured reserve with a head injury and Allen is back as the current third option. A team with playoff aspirations can't afford to gamble on Allen if anything should happen to Bush while Forte is out.

Slaton burst onto the NFL scene as a member of the Texans during his rookie season in 2008, when he rushed for 1,282 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 377 receiving yards and another score. Since that spectacular season, Slaton struggled to stay on the field and got phased out in Houston when Arian Foster rose to prominence. The Dolphins released Slaton -- who is just 26 years old -- on Sept. 1 before the start of the current season.

Bears Vs. Packers: Brian Urlacher, Brandon Marshall Might Disagree On How Good Chicago Really Is

It might be a case of new guy vs. team veteran, but Brandon Marshall and Brian Urlacher don't seem to have the same opinion on the Bears through two games.

From CSN Chicago, here's what Urlacher thinks of the Bears:

"Maybe we're not as good as we thought we were," said linebacker Brian Urlacher. "We've got a long ways to go and that's obvious. Maybe Green Bay's just that good."

And here's what Marshall had to say.

"We're definitely as good as we think we are, but offensively we have to do a better job," Marshall said. And as far as Green Bay, "They're a great team, they won the Super Bowl two years ago, so it's going to take more than just walking on the field to dethrone them."

To be fair, Marshall is putting the blame on himself and the offense, but it's quite clear after Thursday night's loss that the Bears have some work to do.

Bears Vs. Packers: Charles Tillman Lauds Green Bay For Fake Field Goal Call

With both the Bears and Packers offenses struggling to do anything, Green Bay stole the momentum with a 27-yard touchdown on a fake field goal late in the second quarter of Thursday night's game.

Bears cornerback Charles Tillman said the Bears were looking for a big play of their own by blocking the kick. Instead, Green Bay had the perfect trick play called, according to ESPNChicago.

"We were trying to block it (the kick)," Tillman said. "That would been a real game-changer for us if we would have blocked it. Obviously, they got the better end of it. Great call on their part, great scheme, it was the perfect call for that particular style of block that we had set up."

Bears QB Jay Cutler Pleads His Case After Rough Start Vs. Packers: 'I Care About This'

Jay Cutler isn't going to have many nice things said about him over the course of the next 10 days, especially not after the way he performed during the Chicago Bears' 23-10 loss against the Green Bay Packers. Four interceptions in a big game against a division rival isn't going to cut it if the Bears hope to compete at an elite level this season, and while the offense line can be blamed for some of the problems, there is still plenty of criticism that can be aimed at Cutler for his performance on Thursday.

Jay took his frustration to the podium after the game, but he did make an effort to communicate his desire to win amid an otherwise unflattering post-game interview process. Here is what Cutler had to say about his passion for the game after the team's loss against the Packers (via CSN-Chicago):

Bears Vs. Packers 2012: Jay Cutler Sacked 7 Times, Green Bay Fans Celebrate

The Chicago Bears fell far short of victory on Thursday night in their 23-10 loss at the hands of Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, and Bears fans weren't left with much good news to process. Running back Matt Forte suffered a high ankle sprain and had to leave the game, Jay Cutler got sacked seven times and hurried on at least 20 occasions, and Brandon Marshall failed to make an impact on the contest. The biggest issue over at Bears blog Windy City Gridiron was the mistakes that flowed from Cutler all night long. Steven Schweickert explains:

For whatever reason, Cutler's reads were not as sharp as they were on Sunday. Call it Dibeetus Night Vision, call it shirking away in prime time, whatever. In the third quarter, he lofts a high one to Kellen Davis, who can't get under it, the ball hits the safety square in the stomach, and drops. His second quarter interception just should not have been thrown. His third quarter interception was the product of 3rd and long and trying to force the ball into some very good coverage on Earl Bennett. And in the fourth quarter, the read was fine, but there was not enough distance on the throw - the underthrown ball just got picked up.

Meanwhile, the community of Packers fans at Acme Packing Company had the good fortune of being able to focus in on a dominant pass rush that bothered the Bears on nearly every passing play:

From the Bears' first series, it was obvious that the Packers' defense had a different strategy and level of intensity than they did last week. Dom Capers sent a blitz on the first play from scrimmage for the Bears, and a sack by D.J. Smith was the result. That was a regular occurrence in the first half, with the Packers picking up three first half sacks. Clay Matthews finished the game with 3.5 sacks, and the Packers picked up seven sacks on the night.

Bears Vs. Packers Is NFL Network's Highest Rated Thursday Night Football Game

The Chicago Bears fans that watched this week's Thursday Night Football game on the NFL Network likely won't want to remember it, but news broke Friday morning that those fans were part of a record-breaking audience.

Thursday Night Football hasn't been around very long, of course, but this week's game against the Green Bay Packers set the record for the best ratings the NFL Network's game of the week has ever received.

Masonson, who works in the NFL's communications department, later tweeted that the previous record-holder was the 2011 Thanksgiving game between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens. With the extended slate of Thursday night games, however, it would seem this week's record will likely be broken sooner rather than later.

Matt Forte Injury Update: Bears RB Suffered High Ankle Sprain Vs. Packers, According To Report

Nothing went right for the Chicago Bears during their 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night in Week 2, and now it is believed that star running back Matt Forte suffered a high ankle sprain during the game. This news comes via a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, and it means the Bears will probably have to lean heavily on backup running back Michael Bush in the next few weeks. Forte was injured during the third quarter when Packers safety Charles Woodson rolled up on his ankle at the end of a 14-yard reception.

Here's the play:

Forte_medium

Forte left the game after compiling 31 rushing yards on seven attempts and 45 yards receiving on four catches. As a sign of how bad things got for the Bears, he still finished the game as the team's leading receiver. The Bears signed Forte to a four-year deal during the offseason with $18 million in guaranteed money. In other news, paying NFL running backs continues to be a tough investment to justify.

Bears Vs. Packers Final Score: Green Bay Defeats Chicago 23-10

The Green Bay Packers bounced back from their season opening loss to the 49ers by beating their oldest rivals. After a scoreless first quarter, the Packers took control in the second quarter and went into the half with a 13-point lead. Chicago looked to be making a game of it in the third, but Green Bay put the game on ice in the fourth quarter. They'd open the fourth with a field goal, and then this touchdown put the game out of reach:

Lazer_medium

Chicago would add a touchdown shortly after, but it would be too little too late as the Packers defense cranked up the pressure. Here's the Bears touchdown pass from the fourth:

Cutlertd_medium

The game ended 23-10, so anyone who took the under should be smiling. The Packers were 4-point favorites, so they easily covered the spread.

Fantasy star of the game:

There weren't any real offensive stars on Thursday, but the Packers defense had a fantastic night. The unit gave up only ten points and allowed just yards, they sacked Jay Cutler seven times and forced him to throw four interceptions. Clay Matthews had himself a heck of a night, with 7-tackles and 3.5-sacks.

What's up next:

The Bears will host the Rams a week from Sunday as they look to bounce back from Thursday's loss. St. Louis will be in action on Sunday, as they host Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. The Packers will take their 1-1 record west, heading to Century Link Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks in eleven days time. The Seahawks will be hosting the Cowboys on Sunday.

Bears Vs. Packers Score Update: Bears Trail By Ten After Third

The Bears received the ball at the start of the third quarter trailing by 13-points, but they'd manage to get themselves on the scoreboard six minutes into the second half. Robbie Gould added a field goal, but it probably should have been seven instead of three. Brandon Marshall dropped a sure touchdown that would have pulled the Bears to within a single score. Here's the drop in .gif form:

Nooobrandon_medium

Green Bay will start the fourth quarter with the ball and a 10-point lead. If the Bears are going to come back in this one, they'll likely be doing it without running back Matt Forte. Forte was injured when Charles Woodson rolled up on his ankle and has been taken back to the locker room. Michael Bush will now have to carry the load for the Bears ground game.

Bears Vs. Packers Score Update: Green Bay Leads 13-0 At The Half

The first quarter of Thursday night's game between the Packers and the Bears ended scoreless, but the Packers manged to get on the scoreboard in the second quarter. Mason Crosby opened the scoring two minutes in with a 48-yard field goal. There was definitely a bit of controversy involved as the Bears were penalized for having 12 men on the field when the Packers lined up on 4th and 3. The 5-yard penalty was very close and it extended the drive that eventually opened the scoring.

Aaron Rodgers began to find some rhythm after the initial score, and he drove the Packers down the field to attempt a second field goal with just under two minutes to go in the half. The Packers then faked the field goal attempt and Tom Crabtree ended up in the endzone to make it a 10-point lead. Here's the score in .gif form:

Packfake_medium

The Bears would give the ball right back to the Packers after the touchdown as Tramon Williams picked off Jay Cutler. The Packers drove it into field-goal range again and Crosby addeda second field goal for Green Bay. The Packers will take a 13-point lead into the half.

The Bears will receive the ball to start the second half and they really could use a bit of sustained possession. They finished the first half with only 47 yards of offense, and the Packers defense has held them to a time of possession of 11:24.

Bears Vs. Packers Score Update: No Score After The First Quarter

Odds-makers predicted the Bears and Packers would be a high scoring affair, with some going so far as to set the over/under at 63.5 points. After one quarter of play, those taking the under probably have big smiles on their faces. After the first fifteen minutes, the game remains scoreless.

The Bears and Packers have both had multiple possessions, but they haven't exactly been running up the yardage. The Packers have finished the first quarter with 87-yards of total offense, the Bears are on an even zero. The Packers have the ball as the second quarter gets underway, and they're finally starting to show signs of life on offense.

Bears Vs. Packers: Randall Cobb Flipping To Face The Bears

Randall Cobb is one of the most exciting weapons that the Green Bay Packers have at their disposal, but if he's not on the field, he can't hurt the Bears. Cobb returned the opening kickoff for 21 yards, but he was greeted rudely by the Bears' special teams unit. The Bears up-ended the speedster before forcing the Packers to go three and out. Here's the tackle in .gif form:

Cheesegymnastics_medium

During the Packers' next possession, they lined Cobb up in the backfield and handed him the ball. He landed awkwardly on his shoulder and had to leave the field to get treatment. Cobb would come back to return the Bears' second punt of the day, and doesn't appear to be any worse for wear.

The Chicago Bears face the Green Bay Packers in the Thursday night game of Week 2, and with the list of inactives released it looks like the Bears have the better luck on the injury front. Greg Jennings Injury: Packers Wideout Inactive Vs. Bears

Greg Jennings is officially out for the Green Bay Packers. The Chicago Bears face the Packers in Week 2's Thursday Night Football game, and Jennings absence will give the Chicago secondary one less thing to worry about.

Jennings was hurt late in Green Bay's Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, sustaining a groin injury. He had five catches for 34 yards prior to being injured. He was listed as doubtful heading in to the game, but whether or not he would play was a last-minute decision.

Donald Driver will likely move into Jennings' place for Green Bay. The veteran receiver saw very little action in the season-opener, participating in only three plays.

Bears Vs. Packers Injury Report: Charles Tillman Will Play

Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman will play in the team's Thursday night showdown with the Green Bay Packers, says the NFL Network's Alex Flanagan. The corner, who made the 2011 Pro Bowl, suffered a shin injury in Chicago's Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts. He missed most of that game as well as practice during the week.

In addition to his contributions on defense, Tillman had become key in special teams. He was a crucial blocker on the punt-return team, matching up with the opposing team's gunner.

Tillman had three interceptions and 16 passes defended in his 2011 season. He has been in the league since 2003, spending his entire career to date with Chicago.

Bears Vs. Packers: Chicago Knows Clay Matthews Can Be Destructive

Right tackle Gabe Carimi faces a big test in the Chicago Bears' Thursday night game against the Green Bay Packers. Carimi will primarily line up against Clay Matthews, the explosive linebacker who drives Green Bay's pass rush. Offensive coordinator Mike Tice knows the challenge ahead of Carimi. As he told the Chicago Tribune:

"(Matthews) likes to pass, so I'm going to get him to run sometimes, tire him out a little bit,'' Carimi said with sarcasm. "He's an explosive guy. He has a great second move. He's either going to run straight up the field, try to beat you with speed, then jab rush you and give you a bull rush. Or he's going to pretend to come inside like he's going to hard hit you with a spin move.''

Carimi faces Julius Peppers every day in practice, giving him some experience with a fearsome pass rusher. That may help him neutralize Matthews as well as the Bears did the last time they faced Green Bay. Then-right tackle Frank Omiyale held Matthews without a sack. That's better than things usually go: In the six games Jay Cutler has faced the Packers he has been sacked 19 times and thrown 11 interceptions.

Bears Vs. Packers: Donald Driver Could Play Key Role If Greg Jennings Can't Go

Wide receiver Donald Driver is ready to step into the Green Bay Packers' rotation of receivers is Greg Jennings is unable to play in Thursday night's game against the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN Chicago.

Jennings is listed as doubtful for the game with a groin injury, but he is still hoping to play. If he doesn't, Driver would be eager to get on the field, as he seemed a bit disheartened with the lack of playing time he received in the Packers' Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

"I didn't go into that game thinking I wasn't going to play," Driver said, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette. "The way it came out, I didn't. It sucks, but that's the way it goes."

Driver saw the field for only three plays in the opener, and didn't accumulate any stats. However, he was a factor for Green Bay a year ago, catching 37 passes for 445 yards and six touchdowns.

Bears Vs. Packers: Dave Toub Lauds Randall Cobb As One Of NFL's Top Return Specalists

Chicago Bears special teams coordinator Dave Toub was quick to praise Green Bay Packers return man Randall Cobb. The second-year player returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown in the Packers' Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and has three returns for touchdowns in his 16 career games. Toub took note of Cobb's skills and knows the Bears must be aware of him:

"We have to manage our kicks very well this week with Cobb back there," Bears special teams coordinator Dave Toub said. "He's excellent. He is, if not the best, besides Devin (Hester), I don't who else there is. Maybe the guy down in Arizona (Patrick Peterson), he's pretty good too."

The Bears' special teams unit will be ready for Cobb, as they are always one of the NFL's best and performed strongly in their Week 1 victory over the Colts.

The Bears and Packers will kickoff at 7:20 p.m. CT on Thursday.

Bears WR Earl Bennett Praises Packers' Secondardy Going Into Thursday's Game

The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers are set to clash on Thursday night in a primetime Week 2 matchup, but players are being careful to avoid producing any last-minute bulletin board material. Earl Bennett spent his time with the media praising rookie wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, but he was sure to emphasize his respect for Charles Woodson and the rest of the Green Bay Packers' secondary as well (via ESPN Chicago):

"They're a good secondary with Tramon Williams and Charles Woodson now back at the safety position," Bennett said. "They got some guys who can play back there. Woodson is doing the same thing he's always done (despite moving from cornerback to safety). Woodson is doing what he has always done in their scheme."

Last season Bennett had to carry the load for the passing attack, but this time around Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall are there to help Jay Cutler put up bigger numbers against a Packers defense that has never been afraid to blitz and leave areas of the secondary exposed.

Week 2 NFL Picks: Bears Vs. Packers

The Chicago Bears are set to take on the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field on Thursday night, and few experts believe they will come out as the victors. The Bears looked impressive in their season-opening 41-21 win over the Colts, and the Packers opened with a loss at home to the 49ers. Yet most experts expect the Packers to rebound.

All eight experts at CBS picked the Packers to win, as did Jason Cole of Yahoo! At other sites at least one expert has sided with the Bears. At NFL.com three of four picked the Pack, but Kurt Warner went with the Bears. At ESPN the majority of experts have actually sided with the Bears, with four of 11 picking Chicago. Overall that makes 15 out of 20 picks for the Packers, or 75 percent. Obviously listen to the experts at your own peril.

Kickoff is at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday.

NFL Odds Week 2: Bears Vs. Packers, Chicago Sliding To Underdog Status

The Chicago Bears are currently listed anywhere between a 5-point and 6-point underdog for their matchup against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Thursday night, according to Oddshark.com. The spread opened with the Packers listed as just a 4-point favorite, but since then it has moved even further in Green Bay's favor. The Bears have dropped six of their last seven meetings against the Packers, but this time around they have the offensive weapons to keep pace with Aaron Rodgers and the high-flying Green Bay passing attack.

Oddsmakers expect a shootout, as the over/under opened at 50 points and has since shifted upwards to anywhere between 51 and 52 points. The only other Week 2 game with an over/under at 50 points or higher is the matchup between the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. This is definitely new territory for Jay Cutler, Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall and the rest of the Chicago Bears offense.

Bears Vs. Packers: Charles Tillman Is Key Part Of Bears Special Teams

Bears starting cornerback Charles Tillman injured his shin during Chicago's Week 1 game against the Colts, but it was not on defense. He was injured while playing on the punt return team. When asked why Tillman was on punt return, special teams coordinator Dave Toub told the Tribune that Tillman's inclusion made a lot of sense:

"We have approximately seven starters that play at least one phase: punt, punt return, kickoff, kickoff return,'' Toub said. "We've got to have him on the field because he's the best guy that we've got. He can shut down a gunner single-handedly. There are not many guys that can do that.''

Tillman is expected to play Thursday, when the Bears face the Green Bay Packers. He did not practice Tuesday, however, and his return is far from certain, especially given the short week.

Chicago Bears Injury Report: Brian Urlacher Is Probable, Charles Tillman is Questionable Vs. Packers

The Chicago Bears released their injury report on Wednesday, one day prior to Chicago's Thursday night clash against the Green Bay Packers.

Charles Tillman and Kyle Adams are both listed as questionable for Thursday's tilt, while Brian Urlacher is listed as probable.

Tillman left Week 1's contest against the Indianapolis Colts after suffering a lower leg injury in the first quarter of Chicago's win, and did not return to the game. On Monday, Lovie Smith was optimistic that Tillman would play in Thursday's game, but Tillman is now officially questionable.

Adams is questionable with a shoulder injury. Adams wasn't a big factor in Chicago's Week 1 win, catching just one pass for 17 yards.

Urlacher, meanwhile, is probable, despite sitting out most of the second half of Chicago's win over Indianapolis. Smith hinted on Tuesday that it's all part of Chicago's plan for Urlacher, as they try to keep him healthy for the entire season.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. CT from Lambeau Field.

Bears Vs. Packers: Aaron Rodgers Praises Chicago Defense

High praise from a quarterback as good as Aaron Rodgers is a big deal, but the Chicago Bears defense has heard this kind of thing before. Rodgers had some kind things to say about the Bears Tuesday.

"They've got a great defense, do a good job of stripping the ball, making plays, creating turnovers and forcing you into long-yardage situations."

Rodgers, writes the Chicago Sun-Times, mentioned veteran linebackers Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher, the two players every team is aware of going into a game against Chicago.

The Bears D could be a little more formidable if the Packers don't have wide receiver Greg Jennings in the lineup, which seems likely.

Having made such compliments, Rodgers is 7-2 in his career against the Bears and has a 102.9 career quarterback rating against them. The Packers have won six of the last seven meetings.

The Bears, who defeated Indianapolis in Week 1, could have a hobbled Urlacher and defensive back Charles Tillman.

Greg Jennings Injury: Packers Receiver Unlikely To Play This Week

It appears unlikely that Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings will be able to play on Thursday against theChicago Bears as he nurses a nagging groin injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Jennings did appear in last Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, but the Packers are working on a shorter schedule this week.

As Schefter notes, Jennings is a tough player, but it's too early in the season to potentially risk his health:

Green Bay knows it's a long season and it's going to need to count on Jennings. It's more important to prep him for the final 14 than the upcoming one if there are any concerns about that groin injury right now -- and there are.

The injury doesn't sound especially serious, but with the Packers having only a few days between last Sunday's game against San Francisco and Thursday's game against Chicago, it appears that they're erring on the side of caution with one of their key playmakers. Last week, Jennings caught five passes for 34 yards against the 49ers.

Chicago Bears Injury Report: Brian Urlacher, Charles Tillman Miss Practice; Expected To Play Week 2

Two key Chicago defenders were held out of practice on Tuesday, the Bears' only session of the week before their Thursday game at Green Bay. Vaughn McClure had the update on Twitter:

Brian Urlacher played 27 snaps on Sunday, after undergoing surgery on his left knee in the offseason. Head coach Lovie Smith rested him once the Bears built a 20-point lead early in the third quarter.

Charles Tillman left Sunday's game with a right shin injury in the first quarter, returned for a few plays, and then left for the locker room. Smith expects the veteran corner will be fine for Thursday; Kelvin Hayden backs up Tillman if that isn't the case.
