On Friday at Bears training camp, wide receiver Devin Hester and safety Major Wright went up for a deep ball in a drill. As the two came down, Hester landed awkwardly and remained on the ground for a few minutes as he was attended to by trainers. Hester hurt his ankle on the play, and though he sat out of practice on Saturday, both Hester and coach Lovie Smith said that Hester will practice on Sunday.
Hester, who has once again been one of the main characters at training camp as Mike Tice looks to integrate him into the team's offense, classified Friday's injury as typical training camp fare:
"We're gonna have accidents like that," Hester said Friday just minutes after suffering the injury. "If you don't expect accidents, then you shouldn't play football. It's just the nature of the beast. There are gonna be accidents, even if we're playing touch."
