2012 NFL Draft: Former Illinois WR A.J. Jenkins Signs Four-Year Deal With San Francisco 49ers

Former Illinois Fighting Illini wide receiver A.J. Jenkins has agreed to a four-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers, as the team announced on Wednesday. With the signing, the 49ers have now agreed to deals with all seven of their draft picks.

Jenkins was selected by San Francisco with the 30th overall pick in the first round after an All-Big Ten season with Illinois in 2011. Over 13 games with the Fighting Illini last year, Jenkins caught 90 balls for 1,276 yards and eight touchdowns. As Joel Thorman of SB Nation notes, the wideout's deal is worth roughly $7 million over four years.

The 22-year-old joins Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Kyle Williams and Ted Ginn Jr., plus offseason additions Randy Moss and Mario Manningham, as key weapons in the passing game for San Francisco. Over the years, the 49ers have put major effort into surrounding quarterback Alex Smith with better options.
