Brandon Marshall Highly Productive In Cold Weather

A reader asked Dan Pompei of Brandon Marshall, "What has Brandon's career performance been in cold-weather games?"

The response raises more hopes for optimism that Marshall will heal some of the Bears woes at wide receiver:

Marshall may not like playing in cold weather, but he's actually done it pretty well. He has played 15 games in which the kickoff temperature was below 40 degrees, and 76 games in which the temperature was above 40, according to Stats. In the cold games, Marshall has averaged 5.1 receptions. In the warmer games, 5.4 receptions. He has caught 60 percent of the passes thrown his way in the colder games as well as the warmer ones. He has averaged 15.1 yards per reception when the temperature was below 40; 12.6 yards when the temperature was above 40. In the colder games, 13 percent of his catches have been touchdowns, compared to six percent in the warmer games. And 12 percent of his catches have been for 25 yards or more in the games that were below 40, whereas only 12 percent of his catches went for 25 yards or more in the warmer games. I think this tells us we don't have to worry about Marshall going south when the north winds start whipping on the lakefront.

There's no such thing "Bear Weather", as the climate in which the Bears play December games isn't as unique as urban legends pronounce. But it's great to see that this won't be an issue.
