2012 NFL Draft Predictions: Bears Select DE Chandler Jones In Football Outsiders Mock Draft

The advanced analysis site, Football Outsiders, has developed a new mock draft system called the Mocktopus which predicts the Chicago Bears will select DE Chandler Jones with the No. 19 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft:

19. Chicago Bears / Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse

The late-rising Chandler Jones is likely to go in the first-round, and the Bears could use pass rush help, so it’s a decent enough fit.

The Mocktopus system -- which combines prospect rankings, positional priorities and mock drafts from across the internet -- suggest the Bears will miss out on Illinois Fighting Illini DE Whitney Mercilus, who will fall to the San Diego Chargers at No. 18.

Jones should make more than a suitable replacement for Mercilus, however. The three-year starter for the Syracuse Orange collecting 10.0 sacks and 27.0 tackles for a loss in his collegiate career.
