Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery takes over his first-ever draft with the franchise on Thursday night as the 2012 NFL Draft starts at 7 p.m. CT on NFL Network and ESPN, and in Mel Kiper Jr.'s 2012 NFL Mock Draft the Chicago Bears are projected to select Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones with the No. 19 overall pick. Kiper believes DE is the top need on the Bears' draft board, so Jones is their man after Whitney Mercilus gets taken one pick earlier by the San Diego Chargers.
Linebacker Luke Kuechly comes off the board at No. 9 overall to the Carolina Panther, while DE Quinton Coples goes at No. 14 to the Dallas Cowboys and WR Michael Floyd is snatched up by the New York Jets at No. 16 overall. Interestingly, Jones is listed as the No. 44 overall prospect in the 2012 NFL Draft by Mocking The Draft.
