2012 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay Projects Bears To Select WR Michael Floyd With No. 19 Pick

Stay connected for news and updates

The Chicago Bears are projected to take Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd with the No. 19 overall pick in the latest mock draft from ESPN's Todd McShay. Floyd has generally been considered an obvious target for the Bears given their need to acquire an upgrade at wide receiver.

Chicago needs a big target who can make plays downfield and take advantage of the strong arm of QB Jay Cutler, and while Floyd isn't the most sudden athlete he shows on tape the ability to be an impact player in the vertical passing game. Running a 4.47-second 40-yard dash at the combine helped solidify him as a top-25 prospect.

After depending on Johnny Knox, Earl Bennett and Roy Williams last year, Chicago could really use an upgrade at wideout this offseason. Adding Floyd would certainly qualify after the big year he had with the Fighting Irish. In 2011, Floyd caught 100 passes for 1147 yards and nine touchdowns for the Irish. He also scored a rushing touchdown last season.
