Bears Free Agency 2012: WR Devin Thomas Signed To 1-Year Contract

The Chicago Bears reportedly liked Devin Thomas coming out of Michigan State in the 2008 NFL Draft, but the team ended up drafting a different receiver -- Earl Bennett -- in the third round, a round after Thomas was selected. On Monday, the Bears brought Thomas to Chicago by signing him to a one-year contract. Though Thomas has been a bit of a bust during his time in the NFL, perhaps the Bears see something in him that once made him a highly touted prospect in the draft.

Thomas has just 43 catches for 482 yards with three touchdowns during his career. With the status of receiver Johnny Knox uncertain after a horrific injury last season, Thomas was brought in to add depth to the position and maybe contribute some on special teams as a returner.
