Texans vs. Bears: J.J. Watt, Charles Tillman top Defensive Player of the Year candidates

Frederick Breedon

Charles Tillman and J.J. Watt will both be showcased on Sunday Night Football in Week 10 -- and the pair of elite defenders both figure to be strong candidates for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Two of the best defensive players in the entire NFL will be showcased in the same game on Sunday, when the Charles Tillman and the Chicago Bears play host to J.J. Watt and the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football.

Tillman and Watt have been nothing short of spectacular in 2012, and both players will be in the hunt for the 2012 Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Watt has been the anchor of Houston's defense, and has recorded 39 tackles and registered 10.5 sacks, while recovering two fumbles through Houston's first eight games of the season. Undoubtedly, Watt's play has played a large part in Houston's success so far in 2012.

Tillman has been equally impressive, recording 43 tackles while intercepting two passes and forcing seven fumbles through Chicago's first eight games. Tillman forced four fumbles against Tennessee in Week 9, and has played at an elite level all season long for the Bears.

Unfortunately, Tillman and Watt can't line up against each other, nor will they be on the same defense, but they'll still both play a large role in Sunday night's game -- and they'll both be serious candidates for the Defensive Player of the Year Award at the end of the season.
