Chicago Bears' Matt Forte has routine soreness in ankle, says Lovie Smith

Tim Heitman-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Matt Forte's ankle got a positive prognosis from the Chicago Bears' doctors.

The Chicago Bears checked out Matt Forte's sprained right ankle when they returned home on Tuesday after defeating the Dallas Cowboys and determined that his health in that area is fine. Head coach Lovie Smith told reporters that Forte is experiencing some soreness in his ankle, but that it is the normal wear and tear of football.

"It was good to see Matt Forte back out there," Smith said. "He didn't come away with anything other than just normal soreness from a game in his ankle, even though he went out after that first play."

Per ESPN Chicago, Forte was on the field for 30 of Chicago's 55 snaps on Monday night. Backup Michael Bush saw action on 22 snaps. Forte ran 13 times vs. Dallas for 52 yards, and caught only one ball for negative-three yards. Bush carried ten times for 29 yards and caught one pass for eight yards.
