Jennings wants assists for deflections that result in interceptions.
Chicago Bears' cornerback Tim Jennings has four interceptions this season through four games and has deflected another three passes that have resulted in interceptions by his teammates.
Jennings has a novel idea for those three deflections: assists.
Jennings told John Mullin of CSNChicago.com:
I think they should come up with something like that," Jennings said, laughing. "In hockey and basketball they count assists so we should come up with that in football."
The Bears lead the NFL with 14 forced turnovers including 11 interceptions. Jennings' four interceptions also leads the NFL and his teammate safety Major Wright is tied for second with three takeaways through the air.
The Bears picked off Tony Romo five times including two that went for touchdowns last Monday en route to a 34-18 victory.
At 3-1 the Bears are tied for first place in the NFC North with the Minnesota Vikings heading into their week five match up against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
