Lions vs. Bears: Detroit DB compares Brandon Marshall to Calvin Johnson

Lions corner Chris Houston likened the Bears wide receiver to Calvin Johnson on Tuesday.

As the Detroit Lions prepare to face the Chicago Bears on Monday night, the team's defense is keying on how to stop Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall. In doing so, they are seeing a familiar sight, at least according to corner Chris Houston.

"We know Brandon Marshall's strengths. We know he is a big receiver and we know how he played in Miami and with Cutler before. So, you know how they are going to use him. It would be no different than if Calvin Johnson went to another team. You know his strengths."

Johnson is currently second in the NFL in receiving yards per game with 111.6. He's averaged 15.9 yards per reception but has only scored one touchdown on the season. Marshall, on the other hand, is averaging 99.2 yards per game -- good for fifth in the NFL -- though his average of 14.2 yards per catch is a bit more pedestrian. He has scored three touchdowns.

Johnson was dominant vs. the Bears last season, catching 12 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown in two games. Marshall, of course, will be making his first appearance against the Lions as a member of the Bears.
