Chicago Bears news: NFC North goes 2-1 in Week 6

Troy Taormina-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers picked up much needed wins on Sunday.

The Chicago Bears (4-1) gained sole possession of first place in the NFC North despite being off in Week 6, but the division race got a bit tighter. The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers both won important games on Sunday, while the Minnesota Vikings fell to Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins.

The Lions entered Sunday with only one victory, but they brought their record to 2-3 on the season with a 26-23 overtime victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Green Bay Packers (3-3) also needed a win on Sunday to answer questions that had arisen in the wake of their loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, and they dominated the Houston Texans in a 42-24 victory on Sunday night.

The lone loser in the division was the Minnesota Vikings, who dropped to 4-2 on the year and second place in the division. Christian Ponder threw for 352 yards and two touchdowns, but he was bested by Griffin, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns, including a 76-yard scoring run to ice the game in the fourth quarter.
