Following the announcement from the Chicago Bears on Tuesday morning that general manager Jerry Angelo has been fired, team president Ted Phillips met with media members to discuss the situation.
Phillips says there is no timetable for a hire yet, and that no candidates have been ruled out at this stage of the process (which includes personnel employed elsewhere in the NFC North). Phillips also plans to conduct the search himself and forego a search firm. He cited a need to improve the team's overall talent level as one reason why the team made this move:
Phillips says decision was made because Bears want to close talent gap with their division rivals
Phillips also says he already has a few names in mind.
