Johnny Knox Injury Update: Bears WR Looking At 3-4 Month Recovery, According To Report
Johnny Knox underwent successful surgery on his spine on Monday, the Chicago Bears announced, and while Knox is definitely finished for the rest of the 2011 season, his long-term prognosis sounds good. This is what a league source told the Tribune's Vaughn McClure:
According to a league source, Knox cracked a facet joint, which help keep the spinal column stable. He should be recovered within three to four months, according to the source.
That's encouraging news considering how bad the hit on Knox looked, and it also matches the recovery timeline offered as an educated guess by spinal surgeon Neel Anand on Sunday night. If this report is accurate, then Knox would seem to be on track to play in 2012 and beyond.
